Share tags

Open Graph and Twitter card tags decide the title, description and image shown when your page is shared. This validator checks that the key tags exist, that the image loads and is a sensible size, and that og:url matches your canonical address.

hreflang for multilingual sites

hreflang tells search engines which language or country each version of a page is for. Common mistakes are invalid language codes, a page that does not list itself, no x-default, and language versions that do not link back to each other. We fetch up to eight alternates and check the return links.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need hreflang?

Only if you publish the same content in several languages or for several countries. Single-language sites can ignore it.

What is x-default?

The version shown to visitors whose language you do not cover, often your main page or a language picker.

Why must hreflang pages link to each other?

Google only trusts a pair of pages if each one points to the other. A one-way link is ignored.

Read-only: we request public pages the way a visitor would. Private and internal addresses are blocked, and nothing you enter is stored.
