Why meta tags matter
The title and description are what people read in search results, so they decide whether your page gets the click. Open Graph and Twitter card tags control the image, title and description shown when someone shares the link on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp or X.
Good lengths to aim for
Keep titles to about 60 characters and descriptions to about 155 so they are not cut off. Use a share image of 1200×630 pixels, served over HTTPS. The checks below the generated tags flag anything outside those ranges.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I paste the generated tags?
Inside the <head> of the page. Most website builders and SEO plugins have boxes for the title, description and share image, which is easier.
Does the meta description affect rankings?
Not directly, but a good one raises the click-through rate, which helps.
Why does my shared link show an old image?
Networks cache previews. Re-scrape the link with the Facebook Sharing Debugger or the LinkedIn Post Inspector after changing it.
Read-only: we request public pages the way a visitor would. Private and internal addresses are blocked, and nothing you enter is stored.
